Cherry braided tart

A delicious cherry pie: buttery puff pastry, a sweet mixture of cherries and brown sugar, a delicious temptation.




  • 350g of flour
  • 230g of butter
  • 2.5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 115mL cold water
  • 800g pitted cherries
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 30g cornstarch
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 egg for gilding


Stage 1

Preheat the oven to 180°c

Stage 2

In a salad bowl, put the flour, salt, sugar and very cold butter cut into pieces. Mix.

Stage 3

When the butter is well integrated, add the water little by little. The dough should form a ball.

Stage 4

Divide the dough in two, wrap it in film and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

Stage 5

In a saucepan, compote the cherries, lemon juice, sugar and cornstarch. Mix, cook for 15 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool.

Stage 6

Flatten the dough. Line the tart pan, prick the tart base with the fork.

Stage 7

Spread everything in the tart base. Make sure until the mixture is very cold.

Stage 8

Flatten the second piece of dough, make strips of approximately 2 cm. Make the grid on the tart. Pinch the edges well to seal them well.

Stage 9

Brush the tart with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with brown sugar.

Stage 10

Bake for 40 min.
