Storage boxes for reheating

Rather than using plastic boxes that stain easily or reheating a dish plate by plate, you can use one of our boxes to reheat. This kind of microwave safe can, in the oven*, in the freezer and in the dishwasher without ever being damaged, thanks to the Pyrex® borosilicate glass used for its manufacture. The steam valves on its lid are also perfectly suited to microwave cooking.

      

Glass storage containers

Laglass storage boxis the ideal ally for storing food to eat as is or to cook or reheat afterwards. Its ability to withstand extreme temperatures, whether in a freezer or an oven, and to withstand thermal shock up to 220° C thanks to Pyrex® borosilicate glass, makes it a very practical tool for daily use. These unique properties are not common to all glass storage containers, but are specific to Pyrex® containers.

What size should you choose for your storage boxes?

Pyrex® storage boxes are often offered in 3 or 4 different formats so that everyone can choose the model that suits them best. The ideal is to make sure you have several boxes of each size at your disposal to be able to store and heat all your dishes, whether it is an individual meal or a family dish.

What shape of storage boxes should I choose?

Storage boxes can be round, rectangular or even square depending on the model chosen. If this is not important from a taste and quality point of view, we advise you to opt for Easys boxes to store in the refrigerator and freezer. If you don't have a lot of space, opt for square or rectangular boxes.

What material should you choose for your storage boxes?

At Pyrex®, we only offer you borosilicate glass storage containers because it has many advantages, but you can also find plastic or metal containers on the market.

      

Glass storage containers

If we have chosen to focus on Pyrex® borosilicate glass storage containers, it is because this material is particularly advantageous. Very robust, it resists shocks as well as temperature changes and being put in the dishwasher. Likewise, it is easy to clean and does not retain odors or stains.

      

Plastic storage boxes

Plastic storage containers are popular because they are inexpensive, however, they are also the least durable. After a few uses, the plastic becomes deformed, colored, stained or retains an unpleasant odor which alters the flavor of food. It also does not support being put in the oven, and not always in the microwave.

      

Metal storage boxes

Less common, metal storage containers are rarely used because it is a material that is not suitable for the microwave, and which does not always like the freezer or dishwasher. It also tends to scratch easily, can oxidize and give an unpleasant metallic taste to foods.

How do you know if a box is airtight?

A box is airtight if its lid allows it to be closed without air being able to enter or escape. Most airtight box lids are made of plastic or include a flexible plastic strip that helps seal the box completely.
