Hot cross bun

Hot crossed buns, deliciously scented with cinnamon, soft and generous, a golden treat, ready to seduce your senses.




  • 700g of flour
  • 10g of dry yeast
  • 375mL of milk + a little for browning
  • 75g of butter
  • 75g of sugar
  • 2tsp of cinnamon
  • 5g salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 150g raisins
  • 40g flour (for the crosses)
  • 2tsp sugar (for the crosses)
  • 40g of water (for the crosses)


Stage 1

Melt the butter.

Stage 2

Put the milk, eggs, salt, sugar, melted butter and cinnamon in a bowl. Then add the flour and yeast on top.

Stage 3

Knead in a food processor or by hand until the dough comes away from the sides.

Stage 4

Roll out the dough and leave to rise for 2 hours in a warm place.

Stage 5

Deflate the dough and add the raisins.

Stage 6

Form into 12 pieces of dough of the same size and place them in a dish without moving. Cover with a cloth and leave to rise for another hour.

Stage 7

Meanwhile, prepare the dough for the crosses. Mix all the ingredients together.

Stage 8

Preheat the oven to 180°c.

Stage 9

Brush the buns with milk.

Stage 10

Put the dough in a piping bag and pipe crosses on the buns.

Stage 11

Put in the oven for 20 minutes.
